PSA Screening
PSA Screening blood test is used as a screening tool to detect prostate cancer. While prostate cancer is one potential cause of elevated PSA levels, several other conditions or factors can contribute. Thus, a PSA test alone cannot definitively diagnose cancer, but it can serve as an indicator for further diagnostic tests. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) recommends that men aged 50 and over discuss the potential benefits and risks of PSA testing with their healthcare provider.
Research has shown that these tests have contributed to reducing the mortality rate from prostate cancer in males. Dr Al-Bermani will provide guidance on your PSA test results and discuss any additional investigations that may be required such as an MRI or prostate biopsy.
