Dr. Osama Al-Bermani is a Brisbane-based, Australian-trained consultant urological surgeon accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ).
He is a highly skilled and experienced urologist, specialising in a broad range of urological conditions, including urinary stone disease, LASER surgery, and malignant urological conditions. Dr. Al-Bermani has a special interest in robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat benign and malignant conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder, and prostate.

One of the few Queensland urologists dual-trained in upper-tract and pelvic uro-oncology minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Al-Bermani offers robotic and laparoscopic options for most urological cancers. He is passionate about preserving urinary and sexual function after pelvic cancer surgeries and is among a select group in Queensland performing Retzius-sparing prostatectomy and organ-sparing cystectomy with intracorporeal reconstruction.
Education and Training
Dr. Al-Bermani completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy with First Class Honours and a postgraduate Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland. His extensive training included roles across New Zealand, Westmead Hospital in Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Brisbane, ultimately leading to a robotic and laparoscopic fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Queensland Robotic Surgery Unit at Greenslopes Hospital in 2018. He was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019.
Dr. Al-Bermani further specialized in upper-tract surgery at the Bristol Urological Institute in the UK, an ERUS-accredited centre of excellence. He completed an additional fellowship in robotic pelvic uro-oncology at University College Hospital London, recognized among the top urology hospitals globally. Under the mentorship of renowned surgeons such as Professor Senthil Nathan and Professor John Kelly, Dr. Al-Bermani honed his advanced robotic surgical skills, later mentoring the next generation of fellows. In recognition of his expertise in uro-oncology and robotic surgery, he is a Member of the International Postgraduate Deanery with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

Current Practice
In 2024, Dr. Al-Bermani resumed his public role with QLD Health Metro North at Redcliffe Hospital and STARS and also performs surgeries at The Wesley Hospital, St. Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, and North-West Private Hospital. For complex cases, he collaborates in multidisciplinary meetings with radiation and medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and cancer nurses to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Professional Involvement & Interests
Dr. Al-Bermani is passionate about ergonomic advancements in urology and is deeply involved in surgical education and training. An associate lecturer at the University of Queensland, he regularly presents at national and international conferences, including the European Association of Urology (EAU) and the EAU Robotic Urology Section (ERUS) Congress.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Al-Bermani enjoys traveling with his family, cooking, and playing soccer.
